[At no point in his life will Franken Stein ever be described as a cautious person, and at the age of ten and a half, he's far from reasonable.
Ever since his arrival at the DWMA, he's been experiencing unacceptable physical reactions to the cafeteria food. Occasional irritation of the mucous membranes in his mouth and throat had increased into bleeding hives, swelling, and stomach pain. He doubts he's being poisoned, because he's noticed no one else in the school experiencing similar symptoms (and while he's kept it secret, he doubts anyone else could have).
Current hypothesis: food allergy. No symptoms when eating food prepared by his weapon or himself in their apartment (despite being a same-gender pair, it was deemed "safer" to separate Stein from the dorm population) kitchen, limited symptoms when eating most types of cafeteria food, increased likelihood of a reaction when consuming Asian styled food prepared in the cafeteria (he doesn't eat food from that part of the world when cooking for himself).
It's not uncommon for Stein to skip classes, and he has an experiment planned for today, so when Spirit comes in to yell at him to get moving or they'll be late (for the second time that morning) he looks out from his blankets and just stares at the older boy.]
I'm skipping today.
